Salt Lake City School District teachers and district personnel have created the following resources to support teachers in the implementation of the Utah Core Standards for Mathematics. These resources are intended to accomplish the following:
Pacing guides are designed to align mathematics curriculum, instruction, and assessment. The guides are a tool to help plan instruction throughout the school year so that teachers can feel confident knowing the Utah Core Standards have been taught and assessed.
Essentials trackers are designed to track student understanding of the UtahCore Standards that are expected to be mastered in a given unit of instruction. These documents allow teachers to focus on what should be learned and provides guidance as to how students may show understanding of those learning targets.
Teachers and district personnel have created four Interim assessments per grade level, each aligned to an instructional block. These are intended to be given as pre- and post-assessments. The purpose of these is to assess student progress toward mastery of the Utah Core Standards, determine when intervention is necessary, and inform instructional practice. Benchmark assessments cover the entire Utah Core Standards for a given grade level. Benchmarks are intended to be given twice a year and provide valuable information about student mastery of the Utah Core Standards over the course of the year.
