The Special Education Improvement Council (SPEDIC) is a district-level council and is comprised of representatives from each of the district’s four quadrants and high schools.
The purpose of SPEDIC is to have educators who are involved in providing services to students with disabilities participate actively in the decision-making process. SPEDIC’s goal is to provide for an orderly and professional means of improving the Special Education programs and conditions within the district.
The council operates in a parity relationship between administration (i.e. Director of Exceptional Children Services or Supervisor of Related Services) and district-elected special education staff (i.e. SPEDIC representatives). Neither party may impose a decision on the other party or one which violates the written agreement.
