January 12, 2004 - A big thank you to Daimler/Chrysler for donating a 2003 Dodge Ram 2500 Quad Cab 4x4 to West High School's Automotive Department. West High School participates in the AYES (Automotive Youth Educational Systems) program. Ayes is a nationwide partnership between automotive dealers and local schools providing students with training, internships and support.

February 4, 2004 - Intermountain Contractor magazine has awarded Nibley Park Elementary the 2003 Best Architecture Silver Award. The judges were impressed with use of colors, shapes, overall design, and the ability to use the building as a community center. Congratulations to all involved in designing and building the school. » More

April 2, 2004 - Kudos to: East High School's Science and Bio-tech teacher, Mike Lloyd, who was recently honored for his excellence and received the Radio Shack Science Teacher of Year Award and West High School's Girls Basketball Coach, Ken Hardy, who has been named the Region 5 Coach of the Year and the Salt Lake Tribune Coach of the Year.

April 13, 2004 - Congratulation to Sara Hecht, a student at West High School, and Chad Cannon, a student at Highland High School. They have been named Sterling Scholars in Foreign Language and Music, respectively.

April 15, 2004 - Congratulations to the Bonneville Elementary Chess Team for winning the 2004 State Elementary Chess Tournament! The team has won the state tournament five times over the past six years.

April 16, 2004 - East High Student One of Seven Utahns Named 2004 Presidential Scholar Semifinalists. » More

October 19, 2004 - Kudos to: Mountain View Elementary Principal John Erlacher. He was named the Administrator of the Year by the Utah Association of Bilingual Educators. Anna Lolohea, the Volunteer and After School Program Coordinator at Mountain View Elementary, has been named the Community Member of the Year by the Utah Association of Bilingual Educators.

October 28, 2004 - Congratulations to West High School Spanish teacher Aileen Aviles. She has been chosen as Utah's World Language Teacher of the Year. She will be honored at the Utah World Language Conference in November.

November 2, 2004 - Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) reports for the 2003-04 school year show many Salt Lake City schools are making significant improvements.
