Salt Lake City School District Superintendent of Schools McKell Withers
joined with Mayor Rocky Anderson to announce three new books for the SLC
Reads Together book club. The Mayor and Superintendent introduced the
three books to the media and the public during a news conference at the
Day-Riverside Library. The children's selection is A
Wrinkle in Time by
Madeline L’Engle. The young adult selection is The
City of Ember by
Jeanne Duprau, and the adult book is Plainsong by Kent Haruf. The three
books have been selected by a committee of community and educational leaders.
They should provide hours of reading enjoyment along with countless topics
for community discussion.
