November 19, 2007
Friday October 19 was the day that Executive Women’s International (EWI) held their annual Reading Rally at our own Lincoln Elementary School. EWI is a nonprofit service organization with mission foci on community literacy and professional development opportunities for women. The day included several visiting volunteers, some dressed as animals, surprising Lincoln’s “Leopard Pride” student body and reading to the classes demonstrating the importance of reading. Many of the volunteers chose to read books that were their favorites when they were young and the students enjoyed hearing why the selected books were favorites. The group also left gifts of books at the school and treat bags for every student. A big thank you to our friends at EWI!
