In accordance with AHERA (The Asbestos Hazard Emergency Response Act), this is to serve as the Salt Lake City School District's 2009 annual asbestos notification. Inspections of all buildings are being completed on a six month cycle. The AMP (Asbestos Management Plans) are being updated continuously. Each school's AMP is available for review in the schools main office or the custodial office. Two hour awareness training for all custodial and maintenance personnel is required annually, and sessions are conducted throughout the year. This training should be provided within 60 days of employment. Anyone needing this training, or having questions about asbestos in our buildings, should contact Steve Bennett at Auxiliary Services, 801.974.8392.
Asbestos abatement projects have been completed this year at the following locations;
Lowell and Meadowlark Elementary Schools, Clayton, and Hillside Middle Schools, Highland High School, The Administration Building, and the Goodwin site. More projects are being planned for the coming year.
