The Salt Lake City School District is beginning a planning process that will result in a new five-year plan for 2010-2015 focused on teaching and learning. The process includes gathering information through an online survey as well as in public meetings. The goal is to complete the proposed plan by early fall, with recommendation of the final plan going to the Salt Lake City Board of Education for approval by the end of 2009.

The District has designed an online survey to gather input from a broad range of people. We hope that all employees, parents, and other interested community partners will take a few minutes to complete the survey and share their opinions. Input from a broad audience is critically important to the District and its mission to provide the best possible education to all students. Information submitted through the online survey will be confidential. Individual respondents will not be tracked or named.

The online survey will gather information for the 2010-2015 Student Achievement Plan and will include questions on eight essential areas.

Curriculum
Equity and Advocacy
Choice Initiatives
Instruction
Early Childhood
Internal Communication and External Relations
Assessment
Family and School Collaboration

Respondents will share their opinions on how important each area is for the 2010-2015 Student Achievement Plan; how well the district is performing in these areas compared to people’s expectations; and themes or focus areas that are not mentioned but may be important when developing the new five-year plan.

The online survey is available in English and Spanish at www.slcschools.org. Employees will access it through the district’s email distribution process or can access the survey through Thursday, April 30th by clicking here. The survey for parents, community members, and students can be accessed through Sunday, May 31st by clicking here.
