Hillside Feeder School Team Meeting
- K-8 Introductory PowerPoint
On September 6, 2005, the Hillside faculty attended an informational meeting, heard from Superintendent Withers, and received an overview of the K-8 concept through a Power Point presentation. This was followed by a question and answer period. The Hillside team will design their exploration process with district facilitators to assist them.
On September 7, 2005, elementary school teams from the Hillside feeder area met to receive information about the possibility of choosing to convert their schools to a K-8 grade configuration. The group had an opportunity to hear background information and rationale from Superintendent Withers and School Board President, Laurel Young. The PowerPoint presentation was followed by a question and answer period. Teams were given the following charge:
- Explore and research the K-8 grade configuration as a possibility for your school community.
- Imagine the thematic or focused curriculum your school could offer in a K-8 School.
- Communicate with your school community broadly and frequently.
- Consider modifications to the building and transition plans for students.
Expected outcomes for these teams:
- For the December 6th Board meeting, report your findings and a recommendation about whether or not K-8 is a good fit for your school community.
