Community Advocate
Family Support
Students with unmet physical needs are not ready to learn. The Foundation assists by raising funds to provide:
- coats, shoes, and clothing for students in need.
- support Smart Smiles for Students mobile dental clinic.
- vision screening and eye glasses.
- holiday gift cards.
- on-going support of the Community Learning Center initiative.
Community Learning Centers
Community Learning Centers are the new front porches of our neighborhoods. We intend these centers to serve the entire community holistically from prenatal care, to pre-kindergarten preparation, to adult education programs, and more. Examples of current programs operating out of our Community Learning Centers include:
- IHC Community Health Clinic.
- Parents as Teachers.
- Adult English language courses.
- Financial literacy workshops.
- Nutrition workshops.
- Career counseling and job preparation.
STEM Initiative
(Science, Technology, Engineering and Math)
Funding supports special projects in the pre-K through 12 grades. Activities include:
- professional development for faculty and staff.
- field trips, camps, conferences, and workshops.
- classroom kits for curriculum enhancement.
- after school enrichment, tutoring, and mentoring for students.
- on-going support for school green house programs and science fair boards.
Teacher Recognition
Awards are given throughout the year to honor and recognize exceptional teachers for their outstanding performance and dedication to the students of Salt Lake City School District.
Fine Arts Programs
Support for the “extras” including:
- special music programs such as violin and keyboarding.
- school performances and arts activities.
- district mariachi program.
- professional development for faculty and staff.
