What do the current USDA regulations mean for my child's school lunch?
Answer: The USDA in recent years has issued new school meal requirements effective as of the 2015-2016 school year. The links on the bottom of this webpage provide information regarding how current regulations affect your child's school lunch and breakfast.
Are pork products included in my child's meal?
Answer: Most meat options at the district are beef, turkey and chicken based. Pork is only served in the following options...
|High Schools||Middle Schools||Elementary Schools|
|Hawaiian Pizza||Hawaiian Pizza||Elementary Menu Is Pork Free|
|Pepperoni Pizza||Pepperoni Pizza|
|BBQ Pulled Pork Sandwich||BBQ Pulled Pork Sandwich|
*Note: We serve a gelatin dessert on our menus. Gelatin is animal derived, however there is no way to know if the gelatin we use was derived from pork or not. Therefore, we cannot guarantee the gelatin dessert we serve is pork free. For further questions or concerns regarding other menu items, please contact Child Nutrition Services at 801.974.8380.
My child has a peanut allergy; can they still purchase school lunch?
Our district understands that food allergies can be life-threatening. In consideration of students with peanut allergies, we have opted to provide a soy butter and jelly sandwich (contains soy) in our elementary schools. However, high schools and middle schools began to offer Uncrustable Peanut Butter and Jelly Sandwiches as of March 4, 2019. We feel that the older students are mature enough to correctly identify this item as a peanut item.
We cannot guarantee that our foods are processed in a peanut-free or nut free environment. For example, our whole grain chocolate chip cookie and granola are NOT processed in a peanut/nut free environment. These items could contain traces of peanuts/nuts. Parents and guardians should contact the Child Nutrition Services at 801-974-8380 to discuss special dietary needs and restrictions.
