Co-creator of Dignity Index Speaks to Highland High Students

Dr. Tim Shriver, CEO and Co-creator of the Dignity Index addressed Highland High School students this morning. The Dignity Index is an eight-point scale that scores speech along a continuum from contempt to dignity in as unbiased a manner as possible. Dr. Shriver told students that with their knowledge of social media and their position as future voters, they are in the perfect position to make a lasting change in our country. He urged students to treat their fellow students with dignity, even when they don’t agree, and to request the same from their local and national leaders. 

Shriver‘s remarks were part of the “Ram Fam” speaker series, put together by student leaders at Highland High School this school year. 

Salt Lake City School District is a “dignity district” and is proud to partner with the Dignity Index to teach these critical concepts to students and to shape the welcoming environment in our schools.
