Mark Unruh from East High was named Wasatch Front School Counselor of the Year for the Salt Lake City School District.
Mark has been serving the students in Salt Lake City School District for over 35 years. He started as a teacher at West and has been a school counselor at East since 1998. Throughout his tenure, he has been an invaluable member of the district, bringing kindness, thoughtfulness, and a wealth of experience to East High School and the broader school community.
Colleagues, students, and parents alike have benefitted from Mark’s calm and supportive presence. He is often first to arrive and the last to leave, demonstrating his deep dedication to his students. His thorough, motivational approach has helped countless students navigate their academic journeys and graduate with confidence. His mantra is “Be your best self, enjoy the journey, and bring it every day,” and that is what he does.
