2023-2024 Magnet Gifted & Talented Program Information

The Extended Learning Program (ELP) is designed to serve gifted and high ability students in two service models in elementary and middle schools:

1.   Magnet Gifted & Talented (full time; grades K-8).  The Magnet Gifted & Talented program (Magnet) is a district administered program in which students are identified by national normed assessment measures.  Eligibility is determined at the district level.
2.   AAMP (part time; grades 4-8).  
 

Elementary Magnet Gifted & Talented (full time)

  • Magnet serves students in a full day program at four schools, taught by certified teachers who have received or are receiving a Gifted and Talented Education Endorsement.

  • Students are found eligible for Magnet through an assessment process.

    Elementary School Magnet Gifted & Talented classes are housed at:
    Emerson Elementary (grades 1-6; Dual Language Spanish)
    Hawthorne Elementary (grades K-6)
    Washington Elementary (grades 4 & 5)
    Whittier Elementary (grades K-6)
     

Middle School Magnet ELP (full time)

  • Magnet serves students in up to four core subjects at Clayton, Hillside, and West High School. 

  • Students are found eligible for Middle School Magnet through an assessment process.

    Middle School Magnet ELP classes are housed at:
    Clayton Middle School
    Hillside Middle School
    West High School
