Board of Education is Accepting Applications to Fill Vacancy
The Salt Lake City Board of Education is now accepting applications to fill the Board seat in Precinct 5. The vacancy was created earlier this week due to the unfortunate passing of long-time Precinct 5 Board member and former Board President Heather Bennett.
Those interested in being considered for the Precinct 5 Board seat must have lived within link to Precinct 5 map for at least one year and must fill out an application listing their qualifications. The link to application, or a printed copy may be obtained from the Superintendent’s Office, located at 440 East 100 South, Salt Lake City, Utah 84111. All applications must be complete and returned to the Superintendent’s Office by 3 p.m. on Thursday, April 4.
The Board of Education will screen the applications and will then interview top candidates on Tuesday, April 9, 2019, starting at 5 p.m. A swearing-in ceremony for the newly appointed Board member will take place no later than Tuesday, April 16, 2019. The new Board member will serve from the time of the swearing in until December 31, 2020. The Precinct 5 Board seat will be up for re-election in November 2020.
