Liberty Students Learn Science Journaling
This summer, Kindergarten students at Liberty Elementary are learning about scientific journaling and how it can help the learning process. By using journaling, students are able to explain what they think and what they have seen, answer critical thinking questions, and organize their thoughts.
The student’s put their journaling skills to the test using apples. Students observed the color and the smell of each apple variety. They then weighed the apples and measured their circumference in centimeters. They also counted how many seeds were in each apple and observed how long it took for the apples to turn brown.
The students recorded all of this in their journals, Using the journals allowed the students to review their data and compare the variations observed between the different variety of apples.
