Professional Training for Culinary Students
Earlier this month, more than 500 Career and Technical Education (CTE) students throughout the Wasatch Front received specialized, hands-on training as part of their instruction in the ProStart Culinary Arts Class. Representing the Salt Lake City School District CTE program were students from West High School and East High School ProStart classes.
The breakout sessions included knife skills, tasting sessions, workplace safety, and chicken fabrication. The students were trained by a well-known chefs and culinary professionals who represent paper writing of organizations in our area.
This exceptional opportunity was sponsored by the Utah Restaurant Association in conjunction with local school districts and Salt Lake Community College Culinary Institute, under the direction of Chef Jeffrey Coker, who is the Associate Dean at SLCC.
