Youth Suicide Prevention
As the school year begins we want to remind the young people in our community that their safety in schools and at home is a priority. Studies have shown that suicide is the leading cause of death for Utahns between the ages of 11-17, and over half of youth suicides are attributed to use of firearms.
Salt Lake City’s Youth City government has teamed up with Mayor Biskupski to address concerns about youth suicide and gun violence in our community by creating an event that will educate and empower families on youth suicide. We invite families with youth ages 10-18 to join us on September 8th at the Sorenson Unity Center to #StartTheConversation.
Time: 9:00am – 1:00pm
Registration: 8:30am - 9:00am
Location: Sorenson Unity Center (1383 S 900 W, Salt Lake City, UT 84104)
Open to the public. Free Lunch and Childcare (for children under 9 years old) available.
Multiple panels and sessions for conversations will be held and provided in English, Spanish and Tongan. Additionally, over a dozen resource tables and specialists will be available throughout the entire event.
