2023-24 Title IX Report: Student Participation in Interscholastic Sports

Each year, the district reports on the sports programs in its schools, including the number and types of sports available at each school and the number of students participating. The report for 2022-23 presented information about equitable participation and access at the district’s high schools and middle schools. This year, the district will hire an Athletics and Activities Program Supervisor to oversee the sports programs at East, Highland, and West High Schools.

Bond Resolution

The Board of Education will ask voters this November to approve a $730 million bond. Bonds are loans for large amounts of money that are repaid through property taxes. They must be approved by voters and can only be used for projects related to buildings and facilities. In this case, the bonds would fund the following projects:

  • rebuild Highland High School with solar power and ground-source heat pumps,
  • rebuild West High School with on-site solar power,
  • build an athletic field house at East High School, and
  • fund energy conservation projects to help the district meet its sustainability goals.

Superintendent and Business Administrator Evaluation Tool

The board will be using the services of the Utah School Boards Association (USBA) to assist in the evaluations of the superintendent and business administrator. Over the next few weeks, board members will provide feedback and information to USBA, which will be used to customize the criteria and questions for the evaluations.
