The Board of Education met on Tuesday, October 1, 2024. You can watch the whole meeting on our YouTube channel, or click on each heading to jump straight to that report.

Board Goals: Information Gathering Timeline

The information the board requested at its last meeting to help set their goals will be shared at the October 15 board meeting, except for one item, which will take longer to research.

Campus Safety Coordinator Additional FTE Request

The board approved hiring four additional campus safety coordinators—one for East High School, Highland High School, West High School, and Horizonte Instruction and Training Center. Board members also asked for an evaluation of these new positions to be included in next year’s budget planning.

Superintendent and Business Administrator Evaluation Tool

Board leadership has used feedback from other board members to determine what criteria the board will use for evaluating the superintendent and business administrator. In the coming weeks, board leadership will create a ranking system for the criteria.

Public Hearing

The board listened to community members during a public hearing about the arguments for and against the district’s general obligation bond proposition. This bond would fund new high school buildings and sustainability projects across the district. It will be on the ballot this November.
