Salt Lake City School District (SLCSD) Employment Overview
The Salt Lake City School District utilizes a site-based hiring model, empowering individual schools and departments to lead the selection process for their open positions. This approach ensures that hiring decisions are aligned with the unique culture and goals of each school or department, while upholding district-wide standards for equity and compliance.
Job Postings and Applications
All current vacancies are listed on our online job board, which is updated regularly. Each posting serves as an official notice of recruitment and includes a job description along with the minimum qualifications required.
Applicants must submit all required materials—such as resumes, official transcripts, and licenses—through the district’s online application system. Unsolicited documents or employment inquiries sent directly to the Human Resources Services Office will not be accepted or retained.
Hiring Process
Once an application is submitted, it is reviewed at the school or department level. The hiring manager or school-based administrator acts as the primary point of contact and is responsible for:
- Screening candidates
- Conducting interviews
- Making hiring recommendations based on the specific needs of their site
Pre-Employment Screening
Applicants who receive a conditional recommendation for hire will undergo a pre-employment screening process. This may include:
- Verification of professional background and educational experience
- Criminal history check
- Other evaluations deemed appropriate by the district
Onboarding
Upon receiving a final offer of employment, the onboarding process will begin. All onboarding paperwork is completed digitally and sent via email. A member of the Human Resources team will also contact the new hire to schedule an appointment at the district office to finalize onboarding.
