Bullying Prevention Month

October is Bullying Prevention Month.  Parent classes explore how bullying can lead to school avoidance and how to break the cycle. Learn how to recognize signs, build resilience, and support your child through difficult social dynamics.

We also want to make sure you know who to contact if you suspect your child is being bullied or harassed at school.  Please read the information below. 

Bullying and Harassment Information and Reporting Procedures 

We take bullying seriously. 

If you suspect bullying or harassment is occurring, please report it immediately. Salt Lake City School District is committed to providing a working and learning environment free from bullying, hazing, harassment, discrimination, and retaliation. 

Definition of Bullying  

Bullying differs from conflict in that it is:  

  • Repeated over time 

  • Intended to cause distress or harm  

  • Imbalanced in power and/or strength 

Harassment is a form of bullying against a protected class. 

Reporting Procedures 

If you suspect your student is the target of bullying or harassment, there are several ways to voice your concerns:  

  • Speak with the school principal, assistant principal, or school counselor 

  • Complete a Request for Investigation Form (link on district homepage under the button labeled “File a Non-Discrimination/Title IX/ Bullying Complaint”) 

  • Submit a tip through the SafeUT app or website SafeUt

Board Policies G19 & G20 

  • SLCSD Board Policies G19 & G20 prohibit bullying and harassment 

  • All students receive training on G19 & G20 annually
