Message from our Superintendent
Dear Salt Lake City School District families and community,
I want to share our deep concern and care for our families and staff following the tragic events in Rose Park last evening. We know that these events have landed heavily on many within our district and, with you, my heart is with those who were harmed and those who are grieving.
We know that news of violence can be upsetting for children and adults alike. Students may experience fear, sadness, or confusion as they try to make sense of what they are hearing. We want you to know that our teachers and staff are working to be especially attentive to students who may need additional care, reassurance, or support. School counselors are available to support any student who needs help processing their feelings.
If your child has questions, seems distressed, or is struggling in any way, please know there are trusted adults at school ready to listen and help. Families are also encouraged to contact their school directly if they believe their child would benefit from time with a counselor.
The safety and well-being of our students is always our highest priority. We are committed to ensuring our schools are safe and that they are places of care, stability, and support for every child.
We are grateful for your partnership in offering care and condolences to those in our community affected by this tragedy. Please see the resource below if your student needs support outside of school hours.
Sincerely,
Elizabeth Grant, Superintendent
Salt Lake City School District
