Parkview Elementary School
Parkview Elementary teachers and staff believe students learn in multiple
ways and we accept the Salt Lake City School District Vision Statement
that each student is valued and nurtured to achieve his or her highest
potential academically, physically, and socially, resulting in a principled
contributor to society. We will continue to learn, understand, and practice
the Elements of Reform, including community collaboration, advocacy for all, accountability
and family involvement. We will implement and articulate the Salt Lake
City School District Performance Results, which are: Complex Thinker
and Problem Solver, Contributor to the Community, Quality Worker and
Producer, and Self-Directed Learner.
Facts About Parkview
Parkview’s School Improvement Plan focuses on four major goal
areas:
- Parkview is implementing a comprehensive school reform program
which consists of staff development models that are integrated into
all curriculum areas and address the needs of all students. This program
is based on best teaching practices and includes on-going assessments.
- Increase Alternative Language Services through structural
changes and staff development. Parkview has a bilingual cohort group
that originated in Kindergarten and now extends through grade three.
We will offer bilingual classrooms through grade six when appropriate.
Nearly 100% of our classroom teachers have, or are currently working
on their ESL endorsement.
- Create an environment within the school where families feel
welcome. Programs and activities will be created to address the needs
that families feel they have in dealing with their preschool/school
age children. Parkview families and staff developed a parent compact
to address the link between home and school.
- All significant subgroups within the school will make Adequate Yearly
Progress as defined by state and federal law.
