• Make sure that your student is enrolled in the day school prior to applying to the After-School Program.   After-School enrollment is dependent upon day sday-schoolllment.

All elementary and middle schools have an after-school program that begins from bell dismissal until at least 6:00 pm. 

• No, you will need to complete the full application for one child. Repeat the same process again for the additional children. 

• Once your student is accepted into the CEASP, you will receive a confirmation email that prompts the payment process for the non-refundable registration fee and the first month’s tuition fee. 

• After parents or caregivers have supported the financial payment portion of the accepting process, the student will be enrolled.  

• The site coordinator will reach out to the parents prior to the acceptance email to set up the start date of the student in the program. 

• The CEASP does not have a wait list. Students are enrolled first come, first served.  

• Your student will only be released to people identified on the application and who have appropriate picture identification. It is your responsibility to notify the program of any additions or other changes to the list of those who have your permission to take your child(ren). 

• If students are not picked up within 15 minutes of the CEASP ending at 6:00 PM and have not made prior arrangements with the CEASP staff, parents will be charged $1 per minute. Cash payment will be collected at the time of pick up. 

• No. Parents/guardians/visitors will need to follow Board Policy: C-2: Visitors to the School. Our CEASPs (Community Education After School Programs) are supervised by professionals and aim to promote independent learning and socialization opportunities for your children. If you feel that your child is unable to remain in the CEASP without you, it may be best to wait a year before you send them to the CEASP. 

• We encourage parent participation during family nights, held four times throughout the school year. 

• We create developmentally appropriate CEASP curriculum, and our instructors are comfortable working with a wide range of learning styles and levels within that curriculum. We have found that children have the best experiences in the CEASP when they participate in groups at their grade level. While some children may have the intellectual capacity to understand the concepts presented in the CEASP for higher-grade levels, they usually have the best social interactions with children who are the same age. Since the CEASP involves many group activities and time to socialize and make new friends, being comfortable with their peers is important to a child’s enjoyment of the CEASP. Therefore, we adhere to our grade-level groupings and work hard to make each CEASP an outstanding experience for all participants. 

• Yes, we provide access to water. Students will need to bring their own reusable water bottles. 

• All CEASPs provide a snack to students after the school day ends during a designated time in a designated location. 

• The SLCSD CEASP is NOT responsible for any item lost or broken during the CEASP. Please leave the following at home: electronic devices and toys.

• Call the program’s cell number to speak to the After-School Coordinator. If they are unavailable, contact the Community Education Department staff at 801-578-8275. Messages will be relayed to CEASP staff immediately. 

• Students are always supervised. We maintain a minimum staff-to-student ratio of 1 to 15 during CEASP operating hours.

• CEASP staff reviews the code of conduct expectations on the first day of the CEASP and there after a new student arrives to the program. Our expectations are as follows: 

• Yes, according to SLC School District Policy I-15 IVA8, “Any child may be removed from the program if his/her behavior threatens his/her welfare or the welfare of others.” 

• Due to the contagious nature of some illnesses, children with the following symptoms should not attend the CEASP: 

  • Fever or chills 

  • Cough 

  • Trouble breathing 

  • Sore throat 

  • Sudden change in taste or smell 

  • Muscle aches or pains 

  • Undiagnosed rash 

  • Elevated temperature 

  • Diarrhea or vomiting 

  • Sore or discharging eyes or ears, profuse nasal discharge 

  • Diagnosed contagious diseases such as strep throat or chickenpox 

• If your student becomes ill or injured while attending the CEASP, you will be notified immediately. Members of our staff are CPR/first aid/defibrillator trained and will respond to all emergencies as needed. Our staff will determine if Emergency Personnel need to be contacted. 

• The SLCSD Community Education Department provides a process for all participants of Community Education After-School Programs to seek reasonable accommodations for a disability. 

• Will my child be working on their IEP (Individual Education Program) goals? 

• No, the CEASP is an enrichment program, not an academic program. Staff will not be addressing IEPs (Individual Education Program) during the school year.  

• What accommodation will be provided during the CEASP for my student on an IEP? 

• CEASP follows ADA accommodations. If your student requires accommodation to access the after-school program, please contact the CEASP office at 801-578-8275.  

• Will my child have a 1:1 aide during the CEASP? 

• No, if your student needs accommodation to participate in the CEASP, please contact the CEASP office at 801-578-8275. 

• If my child has medical needs, will they be taken care of while in the CEASP? 

• CEASP follows ADA accommodation. If your student requires accommodation to access the after-school program or if your student has a health care plan during the school day, please contact the CEASP office at 801-578-8275. 

• We are committed to fostering a safe, positive, and responsive environment that is free of discrimination, violence, and bullying. The SLCSD CEASP has instituted a Bullying Prevention Policy. If CEASP staff becomes aware of a situation where program expectations are not being met, affected parties will be spoken to, in order to resolve difficulties. If tensions persist, parents will be brought in, and steps will be taken to ensure a quality experience is upheld. If things do not improve, the CEASP staff has the authority to remove a child from the program, without a refund. Before returning the following year, parents and their student must meet with the Community Education Teacher Specialist to review behavior expectations and place the student on a behavior contract. 

• In many cases, tuition can be used as a childcare tax credit. For your reference, SLCSD Community Education’s tax ID number is 87-6000515, and is located on the bottom of each monthly tuition statement. 

• If you need to cancel your child’s enrollment, email the school After-School Coordinator at least 10 business days prior to the student’s start date.  

• Grades levels are combined: 

  • K-1 cap at 15 students and 1 staff 

  • 2-3 cap at 15 students and 1 staff 

  • 4-6 cap at 15 students and 1 staff 

Create Parent Account

1. Open the internet browser on your computer
2. Type https://powerschool.slcschools.org into the address bar
3. Click on the 'Create Account' button. (If you have already created an account, click 'Sign In' and enter your username and password)
4. Enter your first name and last name
5. Enter your email address. An email address is required. Free email addresses can be obtained from Google (Gmail), Yahoo, Microsoft (Window Live Hotmail), and other email websites.
6. Enter your desired username (we recommend using your email address)
7. Enter your desired password. Passwords must be at least six characters long
    

Link Students to Account

1. Enter your student’s first and last name as it would have been entered in PowerSchool
2. Enter the access ID and Parent Portal access PIN. If you don't have the Parent Portal access PIN, you can call the school and they will provide it to you.
3. Select your relationship to the student and click ‘Enter’.
    

After setting up your Parent Portal account following the above instructions, it can take up to an hour for your access to be configured for making payments. During this time we recommend that you log out and log back in. After logging back in, please click on 'Balance' in the left-hand menu and click the link for 'View/Pay After School Program Balances'. You will then be redirected to the After School guardian dashboard where you will see your students listed with associated 'View Student Billing' links. Click 'View Student Billing' for each student to view balances and make payments.
