ONLINE SCHOOL LOCATOR

Please use our online school locator to find which school(s) your student(s) should attend. Click on the green button above, enter your address in the upper left-hand corner of the school locator page, and hit return.

ONLINE ENROLLMENT APPLICATION

To register and enroll in a Salt Lake City public school, prospective students must be at least five years of age on or before September 1 of the school year for which enrollment is sought. The following documentation is required (see below for more details).

• Proof of residence or an approved exception
• A certified copy of the student’s birth certificate or other reliable proof of the student’s identity and age
• A certified and complete immunization record or official immunization exemption

All students may attend their designated neighborhood school without consideration of enrollment capacity. Students who wish to attend a school other than their resident school may submit an Open Enrollment Application online during the early enrollment period, November 15th through the first Friday in February, for the upcoming school year. A student may also request a late enrollment transfer by submitting the same online application at any other time of year. 

Under the McKinney-Vento Act, homeless students are entitled to immediate enrollment and full participation in school even if they are unable to produce records normally required for enrollment.

SchoolCafe is a state-of-the-art online service that provides you the convenience to manage your student's meal account and apply for free meal benefits all at one place. To aid in managing your student’s account on-the-go, SchoolCafe also has a free mobile app available on the Apple App Store and the Google Play store.

Every household must create a SchoolCafe account before accessing their student lunch account or applying for free meal benefits. Be ready to provide your child(ren)’s full registered name, student ID number, and the school enrolled. All questions regarding your child’s registered name or student ID number must be directed to the main school office where your child is enrolled.

Note: New students to the district must be enrolled and obtain a student ID number before creating an account.

PAY FOR SCHOOL MEALS AT THE SCHOOL

Online payments are not the only option. Payments can be made at your school. For elementary and middle schools, cash or check payments will be accepted at the school office. At high schools, cash or check payments will be accepted by the kitchen manager or at the point of sale.

You can apply for free and reduced-price meals from your home computer using our new software called SchoolCafe. SchoolCafe’s Free and Reduced Online Application makes it easy and convenient to apply for free meals at the click of a button. Online applications are instantly and securely submitted to the school district. With the SchoolCafe app, you can also manage your child's lunch account, pay for meals, and see menus. You can download the app at the Google Play Store or Apple App Store or the SchoolCafé website.

Before using the SchoolCafe website or app, you must create a SchoolCafe account. Creating an account is free, but you will need to provide your child(ren)’s full registered name, student ID number, and name of the school where they are enrolled. If you have questions about your child’s registered name or student ID number, please call the main office of the school where your child is enrolled.

Paper Application
You may also choose to submit a paper application. You can pick up a paper application from your school’s kitchen manager or school office, fill it out, and then return it to the kitchen manager or the Child Nutrition department. Paper applications are available in a variety of languages. Students interested in enrolling in a Salt Lake City School District school, who live outside the district or school boundaries, may apply for an out-of-resident transfer. The Open Enrollment application can be found on our website.
