Substitutes
Our Substitute Teaching pool is currently closed. Please check our jobs page for additional employment opportunities within SLCSD.
The substitute teaching program in the Salt Lake City School District is intended to meet the educational needs of our students when the regular teacher is absent.
All substitutes will be required to work one (1) day every 90 days (during the regular calendar school year) to stay active in the system. Current SLCSD substitute teachers will automatically be renewed for the 2024-2025 school year unless a formal resignation is received by George O'Connor ( george.oconnor@slcschools.org ) .
To be considered for employment, all interested applicants must submit an application through the SLCSD applicant tracking system, and all educational requirements (transcripts / diploma) must be uploaded to the application website to be considered. Substitute teachers must be able to pass a criminal background check which will be completed at the SLCSD district office as part of the hiring process. Background check appointments are required and scheduled with the HRS staff member that oversees Substitute teacher hiring.
Substitute teachers are required to complete district training within twenty (20) days of employment, before being eligible to work as a Substitute teacher. District training is also required to be completed annually for all active SLCSD employees.
