Recognition
The board honored April Johnson, the superintendent’s administrative secretary, as she prepares to start a new job. Board members thanked her and wished her well.
Bonding Update
The board discussed the timeline for the bond proposal, including what has been done and what still needs to be completed. A public hearing will take place during the regular board meeting on Tuesday, September 17, at 7 PM. The meeting will be held in the district office building at 406 E. 100 S., Salt Lake City, UT 84111.
The public is also invited to attend open houses, where the district will share information and answer questions about the bond. Live translation into Spanish will be provided at the open houses. For translation into other languages, call (801) 578-8378.

Unused Buildings Site Maintenance
The district is monitoring and maintaining the four closed elementary schools. Long-term use for the four properties has not yet been determined, but some district departments and staff are working in the buildings for the time-being. Security cameras and alarms at the four schools are working, and the district is fixing any vandalism or damage quickly. If you see anything suspicious, please call Auxiliary Services during work hours at (801) 974-8367 or police dispatch after hours at (801) 799-3000.
HR Report on Vacancies and Attrition
It’s been a busy year for Human Resource Services. The department has processed nearly 10,500 job applications over the past year and hired an average of six people a day. The district’s employee turnover rate is around 10-15%, which is considered average. The biggest hiring needs right now are bus drivers and special education teachers.
The board postponed two agenda items, Request for New Positions and Capital Facilities/Properties and District Needs Assessment, until the next board business meeting.
