Insight is an 8-hour life skills program offered to Salt Lake City School District students and their parents. The program runs monthly during the school year, except in December. Students are referred by a school administrator or by a parent/guardian through the Student Services and Counseling Department.
For now classes will be held virtually on Zoom Tuesday evenings 6:00-7:30 PM. Students and their parents participate in one of three classes:
Kid’s Connection (open enrollment)
Students in 4th through 6th grades learn and practice skills for expressing feelings in appropriate ways, communicating effectively, making healthy choices, and resisting negative peer pressure.
Youth Connection (open enrollment)
Students in 7th through 12th grades learn and practice skills for expressing feelings in appropriate ways, communicating effectively, making healthy choices, and resisting negative peer pressure.
Prime for Life (school referrals only)
Students in 7th through 12th grades learn about the psychological and social influences on youth substance use and the consequences of making high-risk alcohol and drug choices. They explore the power of choice and how they can prevent problems in their lives by making healthy, low-risk choices.
