Community Conversations

Community Conversations

Salt Lake City School District recently closed some school buildings as part of our ongoing efforts to align facilities with current enrollment and educational needs. The district is working to determine the best future use of three closed schools: Mary Jackson, M. Lynn Bennion, and Hawthorne.

Community input is essential to this process. We're holding three community conversations to gather feedback on these properties' future. Your input will help shape decisions that affect our neighborhoods. The community conversations will focus on all three sites and will be held at the following locations:

  • Wednesday, September 9 · 4:00–5:30 PM
    Liberty Community Learning Center (1078 S. 300 E., SLC, UT 84111)
  • Thursday, September 10 · 8:15–9:30 AM
    Liberty Community Learning Center (1078 S. 300 E., SLC, UT 84111)
  • Thursday, September 10 · 6:30–8:00 PM
    Rose Park Elementary School (1105 W. 1000 N., SLC, UT 84116)

We encourage you to join us in person at one of the sessions above to hear updates and share your thoughts directly with district staff. If you have a question you'd like the district to address at these sessions, you can submit it in advance. All responses are completely anonymous and confidential. No identifying information will be collected.

We want to hear from you, our community members, neighbors, and stakeholders. You are also invited to take a short survey to tell us what matters most to you as we plan the future of these sites.
