· Bonneville Summer Camp - Registration is open until camps fill or five business days before the start date of the Bonneville Camp. No day of registration is allowed.

• Community Education Summer Learning Program (CESLP) Locations

Use the tables below to find where your child will attend the CESLP.  Again, students are enrolled in the CESLP based on the school they attended in the 2024-25 school year.

· Rising means: current students in a grade level are called ‘rising’ students of the next grade level (e.g., a current second grader is considered a rising third grader for the CESLP and assigned to a third-grade class).

· ESY stands for Extended School Year for students determined eligible by their IEP Teams. ESY will be from Tuesday through Thursday from 9:00 A.M. to 12:00 P.M. Students will have access to breakfast and lunch prior to getting on the bus back home.

• No, you will need to complete the full application for one child. Repeat the same process again for the additional children.

• You receive a confirmation email that goes out after making a purchase.

• The Discovery Camp SLP and the Bonneville Summer Camp SLP 2025, does not have a wait list.  After going through the checkout process your spot is finalized for the programs you selected. Spots are filled on a first come, first served basis.

• No. If a parent has informed us that their child will not be attending a camp, we will re-open the registration link on the Thursday prior to camp. If we are not informed of a cancelation ahead of time and an individual does not show up on the first day, their spot is held for them until they let us know they are not attending.

• All campers MUST be checked-in and checked-out each day by a parent/guardian. We highly recommend that only one parent/guardian drops off the camper each day.
• We start 5 minutes before the camp's start time. Under no circumstances should you leave your child unattended with non-camp staff.
• Campers will not be allowed to be dropped off before the published arrival time. Late arrivals must call and be checked in separately.
• If campers are not picked up within 15 minutes of their camp session ending and have not made prior arrangements with camp staff, parents will be charged $1 per minute. Cash payment will be collected at the time of pick up.

• We have many fun and exciting activities for your child to enjoy during camp and encourage you to be on time and to allow them to stay for their entire camp experience each day.
• Late drop-offs and early pick-ups impact the camp experience for the entire cohort as we get kids caught up with activities or need to get them ready to leave early.
• If you know that you will be late for drop-off or need to pick your child up early, be certain to let the Camp Support Specialist know via email so that we can best accommodate you.

• While we are usually thrilled to meet and talk to parents, we are usually supervising students during camp hours of operation. If you have questions about any part of the camp experience, contact the Camp Support Specialist via email.

• No. Parents/guardians/visitors will need to follow Board Policy: C-2: Visitors to the School. Our camps are supervised by professionals and aim to promote independent learning and socialization opportunities for your children. If you feel that your child is unable to remain in camp without you, it may be best to wait a year before you send him/her to camp.

Discovery Camps

Please note that students are enrolled in the CESLP based on the school they attended in the 2025-26 school year.

The CESLP will start on Monday, June 8, and run four (4) days a week for six (6) weeks.

· Discovery Camp SLP sessions run from 8:00 AM – 2:00 PM.

· Bonneville Camp SLP sessions run from 8:00 AM – 6:00 PM.

• We create developmentally appropriate camp curriculum, and our instructors are comfortable working with a wide range of learning styles and levels within that curriculum. We have found that children have the best experiences at camp when they participate in camps at their grade level. While some children may have the intellectual capacity to understand the concepts presented in camps for higher-grade levels, they usually have the best social interactions with children who are the same age. Since camp involves many group activities and time to socialize and make new friends, being comfortable with his/her peers is important to a child’s enjoyment of camp. Therefore, we adhere to our grade-level groupings and work hard to make each camp an outstanding experience for all participants.

Discovery Camp SLP provides breakfast and lunch.

• Lunch will be served from 11:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

Bonneville Camp SLP does  provide lunch.

• Campers enrolled at the Bonneville Camp will be provided a school lunch each day of camp (Monday-Thursday). 
• Students may bring their own non-refrigerated lunch from home along with a drink, if they prefer.
• We offer supervised lunch time for our campers.
• Students will be eating lunch daily at Liberty Park from 12:30-1:00pm.
• These times may be subject to change to accommodate any timed activities (i.e., field trips). 
• Weekly Lunch Menus and schedules will be sent out via email and take-home flyers.

• Yes, we provide access to water. Campers will need to bring their own reusable water bottles.

• Discovery Camp SLP does not provide a snack.

• Bonneville Camp SLP provides one snack in the afternoon.

• Our staff are hired from the Salt Lake City School District employees who support school programs throughout the school year. All staff are selected for their energy, enthusiasm, and aptitude for social and emotional learning. All camp staff are trained to work with students in informal settings and have successfully completed the required background check.

• Campers should dress in comfortable clothing that may get messy. For safety, we highly recommend closed-toe shoes. Please dress your camper for the weather. We plan to go outside every day, rain, or shine!

• The SLCSD Discovery Camp SLP or Bonneville Camp SLP is NOT responsible for any item lost or broken during the camp. Please leave the following at home: electronic devices and toys.

• All our summer camps include outdoor activities. Please remember to prepare campers with a hat, rain gear, or other weather-appropriate clothing along with applied sunscreen. If you want us to apply sunscreen to your camper, you will need to provide sprayable sunscreen to the Camp Coordinator, fill-out the sunscreen permission form, and return it to them before the camp sessions begin.

• Call the program’s cell number to speak to the Camp Coordinator. If they are unavailable, contact the Community Education Department staff at 801-578-8275. Messages will be relayed to camp staff immediately.

• Campers are always supervised. We keep our staff-to-student ratio of no more than 1 to 15 during camp operation hours.

• SLCSD Discovery Camp and SLCSD Bonneville Camp SLP reserves the right to send a camper home due to inappropriate behavior without a refund. A child may be allowed to return to camp the following day at SLCSD’s discretion.
• Camp instructors review camper expectations on the first day of each camp session. Our expectations are as follows:

Due to the contagious nature of some illnesses, children with the following symptoms should not attend camp:

• Fever or chills
• Cough
• Trouble breathing
• Sore throat
• Sudden change in taste or smell
• Muscle aches or pains
• Undiagnosed rash
• Elevated temperature
• Diarrhea or vomiting
• Undiagnosed rash
• Sore or discharging eyes or ears, profuse nasal discharge
• Diagnosed contagious diseases such as strep throat or chickenpox

If your camper becomes ill or injured while attending camp, you will be notified immediately. Members of our staff are CPR/first aid/defibrillator trained and will respond to all emergencies as needed. Our staff will determine if Emergency Personnel need to be contacted.

• The SLCSD Community Education Department provides a process for all participants of summer learning programs to seek reasonable accommodations for a disability.
• Will my child be working on their IEP goals?
  • No, the summer program is an enrichment program, not an academic program. Staff will not be addressing IEPs during the summer.
• What accommodation will be made during the summer for my student on an IEP?
  • Students requiring accommodation during our summer Discovery Camp program, as identified in their IEP, will be addressed in a 504 plan for the summer.
• Will my child have a 1:1 aide during the Summer Discovery Camp?
  • No, if your student needs accommodation to participate in the summer program, please contact your school administrator.
• If my child has medical needs, will they be taken care of while in the Summer Discovery Camp?
  • All accommodation will be addressed in a 504 plan or a health care plan for the summer. If your student needs accommodation to participate in the summer program, please contact your school administrator.
• Can my student attend both ESY and Discovery Camp?
  • Yes, please contact your special education teacher about options.

• We are committed to fostering a safe, positive, and responsive environment that is free of discrimination, violence, and bullying. The SLCSD Discovery Camp SLP and the SLCSD Bonneville Camp SLP has instituted a Bullying Prevention Policy. If camp staff becomes aware of a situation where camp expectations are not being met, affected parties will be spoken with to resolve difficulties. If tensions persist, parents will be brought in, and steps will be taken to ensure a quality experience is upheld. If things do not improve, the Camp Supervisor has the authority to remove a child from camp, without a refund. Before returning to another camp, parents and their camper must meet with the Camp Education Specialist to review behavior expectations.

• In many cases, camp tuition can be used as a childcare tax credit. For your reference, SLCSD Community Education’s tax ID number is 87-6000515.

• If you need to cancel your child’s camp registration, email the Camp Secretary at least 10 business days prior to the program start date at Maxine.Gilmore@slcschools.org.
• If we can fill your spot, you will receive a full refund, less a $20.00 non-refundable fee for Discovery Camp or $85.00 non-refundable fee for Bonneville Camp.
• If we are not able to fill your spot, we will refund 60% of your tuition fee. Registrations canceled 10 business days or less prior to the camp start date will not receive a refund.

• Rising K – Rising 1 cap at 15 kids and 1 staff
• Rising 2 - Rising 3 cap at 15 kids and 1 staff
• Rising 4 - Rising 6 cap at 15 kids and 1 staff
