Program Overview
Our programs begin when the regular school day ends and remain open until 6:00 PM. We maintain a low staff-to-student ratio, which allows our staff to be more attentive to each student and provide a broader range of enrichment activities. The After-School Program expectations align with the school day expectations & the daily rotations include CARE (Café, Academics, Recreation, & Enrichment). Our enrichment activities incorporate:
- Social and Emotional Learning (SEL), Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math (STEAM), Digital Citizenship, Health and Wellness, and Enrichment Clubs.
In addition students will have access to enrichment opportunities based on their interests building upon student skills and strengths. Community Education wants to ensure that every student is Ready for Tomorrow and our high-quality programs will provide access to make students life long-learners.
Purpose
Our primary purpose is to incorporate social and emotional learning concepts to encourage youth to remain in school while building a sense of closeness in interpersonal relationships by being a part of the Community Education Middle School Intramural Sports Program.
Philosophy
The philosophy of the Community Education Middle School Intramural Sports Program (CEMSISP) is to provide students with an opportunity to participate in activities “without a win at all cost atmosphere.” The primary reason for participation in the CEMSISP is for the enjoyment of the activities rather than pressure to compete and win, as in athletic competition. The CEMSISP provides students with a level of sports that concentrates on learning the game and developing skills. Students can develop or refine skills in a variety of activities.
Communtiy Education, in partnership with the salt Lake Education Foundation, collaborates to support hand-son enrichment opportunities for the youth of the Salt Lake City School District through high-quality after-school programming. Together we are preparing our scholars with 21st Century Skills making them ready for tomorrow!

Over 100 games were made possible with referee funding provided by Salt Lake Education Foundation in-kind donations of $2,000.
