Dilworth Elementary

It's been a summer of change at Dilworth Elementary, where crews have been steadily transforming the school's athletic fields. Work began with survey and design planning in spring 2026, and construction started after the school year ended. Crews first removed the top layer of grass from both fields to clear out weeds, then began a slight regrading of the diamond and field, which will serve the Highland High baseball team.

Over the summer, the fields were leveled and prepped for new sod, which was installed the weekend of August 28. As a result, the fields will be closed to both school and community use while the sod takes root and fences remain up during germination.

Over the summer, crews have been working hard to prepare our fields, removing weeds, leveling the playing surfaces, and getting everything ready for new sod. That sod will be installed this weekend, which means the fields will be closed to both school and community use for several weeks while it takes root.

We appreciate the patience of our students, teachers, staff, and community members during this process. These improvements will help ensure our fields are in great shape for the year ahead.

 

 

UPDATE: July 9, 2026

They will then start the slight regrading of the southwest diamond and field, which will be used by the Highland High baseball team. Once all that work is done, crews will come in and place soil and all new sod. The fields will be fenced off for a while after the sod is laid, giving the sod some time to germinate. 

 

 

 

Update: Dilworth Field – November 7, 2025
