SLCSD Earns 48th Consecutive Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting

Salt Lake City School District is proud to announce that it has been awarded the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting by the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) of the United States and Canada for its Annual Comprehensive Financial Report (ACFR) for the year ended June 30, 2024. This marks the 48th consecutive year the district has received this prestigious recognition, the longest streak of any government agency in the state.
The GFOA Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of national recognition in governmental accounting and financial reporting. To receive this award, a government entity’s ACFR must demonstrate transparency, clarity, and adherence to stringent standards of accounting principles and legal compliance, and must be easily readable and well organized.
The district has also been awarded the prestigious Certificate of Excellence in Financial Reporting from the Association of School Business Officials (ASBO). This honor recognizes school districts that uphold the highest standards of financial reporting and transparency. The district has earned this award for 46 consecutive years.
“This milestone is a testament to our steadfast commitment to financial stewardship and accountability,” said Alan Kearsley, Business Administrator for Salt Lake City School District. “We take great care in managing taxpayer dollars responsibly, and this continued recognition reflects our dedication to transparent and wise financial practices.”
Receiving the GFOA and ASBO awards year after year underscores the district’s long-standing practice of providing accurate, high-quality financial information to students, families, taxpayers, and other stakeholders. This commitment to excellence ensures community trust and confidence in the district’s financial reporting.
