Salt Lake City School District Launches Utah’s First Teacher Apprenticeship Program

Salt Lake City School District has launched Utah’s first teacher apprenticeship program, creating a new pathway for students interested in becoming educators.
The TRAC Teacher Apprenticeship allows students to begin during their senior year of high school by earning college credit while gaining classroom experience. During their apprenticeships, students will be employed as classroom assistants and paraprofessionals while working alongside experienced educators.
After graduation, students will continue their coursework through Salt Lake Community College and the University of Utah, leading to a bachelor’s degree and teacher licensure.
The program was created in partnership with Talent Ready Utah, Salt Lake Community College, and the University of Utah. It is designed to help students prepare for careers in education while building a stronger pipeline of future teachers for our community..
