Equity and Access

Equity and Access Home

The Educational Equity and Access Department is committed to breaking down barriers and ensuring that every student, from K-12, has access to the best possible education. Our goal is to remove obstacles and provide all students with the tools, resources, and opportunities they need to thrive. These initiatives and programs are in addition to the strong support systems already provided by our schools. These efforts include:

  • Districtwide Attendance Initiative: We are committed to reducing chronic absenteeism by identifying and removing the barriers that may prevent students from attending school regularly. We believe that consistent attendance is essential for success and academic achievement.
  • College and Career Readiness Programs: At the high school level, we oversee programs like AVID, TRIO, PACE, and GEAR UP, which help students develop the skills they need to succeed in both college and career pathways. These programs, alongside the many other supports available at our high schools, ensure all students are set up for success.
  • Title VI American Indian Program: This program ensures that Native American students have all the necessary resources, support, and structures in place to succeed academically and achieve their goals.

For more information about any of these efforts, please contact the Director of Educational Equity and Access, Bri Conley, at bri.conley@slcschools.org.
