Public Comment Periods

The Salt Lake City School District Board of Education has scheduled two public comment periods regarding its proposed cap on the amount of school fees that can be waived per student each year. The board is considering a $5,000 cap for the 2026-27 school year.

The public comment periods will be held during the board’s regular meetings in July and August. The board meetings will start at 5:30 PM, with the public comment periods beginning at 7:00 PM. 

  • Tuesday, July 14, 2026 - 7:00 PM in the Board Room at the Administration Building (406 E. 100 S., SLC, UT 84111)
  • Tuesday, August 4, 2026 - 7:00 PM in the Board Room at the Administration Building (406 E. 100 S., SLC, UT 84111)

It is anticipated that the Board of Education will vote on this issue on August 4, following the public comment period. Those who wish to speak during the public comment periods do not need to sign up in advance.
