SLCSD and Code.org
SLCSD has adopted the use of Code.org, for the primary learning of CS in K-8. This platform offers a wonderful learning environment as well as many language options for our diverse student body. Even if you have used Code.org, in the past, it is worth exploring all the offerings. The platform is continually changing and offering more content than ever. Please reach out to alex.rowe@slcschools.org if you have any questions, or would like to start using this in your classroom
Here is a link to join SLCSD’s Canvas Course on Code.org.
SLCSD Robotics
SLCSD’s Teaching and Learning Department recieved a Computer Science Grant from the State of Utah and made robotics a focus of the grant. These devices are a wonderful physical connection to the world of coding, in Computer Science. Teaching and Learning offers these to all of the classrooms of SLCSD and would love to give any training you may need to implement the use of them. We have a Canvas Course that gives an overview of what robots we have and agreements that teachers would need to fill out (in the form of a “Quiz”), to be able to check the robots out.
