It's been a summer of change at Dilworth Elementary, where crews have been steadily transforming the school's athletic fields. Work began with survey and design planning in spring 2026, and construction started after the school year ended. Crews first removed the top layer of grass from both fields to clear out weeds, then began a slight regrading of the diamond and field, which will serve the Highland High baseball team.
Over the summer, the fields were leveled and prepped for new sod, which was installed the weekend of August 28. As a result, the fields will be closed to both school and community use while the sod takes root and fences remain up during germination.
