Summer Meals Begin Tuesday, June 8
Starting today, June 8, the Salt Lake City School District will begin its summer meals program. Meals will be available free of charge to all children, ages 0-18, in the community and will feature our Grab and Go meals, which include lunch for today and breakfast for tomorrow. The meals will be available Monday-Friday, 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m. in 18 locations (see below for a detailed list of locations).
Summer meals are provided using a drive-through or walk-up format and may be picked up by the student or their parent/guardian at any participating school during the designated serving times.
All meals will be pre-sacked and offered in a manner to protect students, kitchen staff, and the public from COVID-19. Unfortunately, we are unable to provide more than one menu option each day because of these constraints.
Special Dietary Needs
Meals for children with special dietary needs will be provided upon request. Contact our dietician, Brianna Hardisty, R.D., via email at Brianna.Hardisty@slcschools.org or by phone at (801) 974-8380 to make arrangements.
Following COVID-19 safety procedures, kitchen managers can provide a meatless entree substitution upon request. Options may include a grilled cheese sandwich or an EZ Jammer sandwich with a cheese stick and cinnamon graham cracker.
Requests for a meatless entrée substitution must be submitted by a parent/guardian via email to the school kitchen at least 1 hour before meal service. Email requests must specify the school site, identify the child by name, and identify the specific menu item or food category to be replaced. Requests can be made for the entire summer.
