Bio
Charlotte Fife-Jepperson was elected to the Salt Lake City School Board in 2024 to represent Precinct 2 on SLC’s Westside, a community she has proudly called home for nearly 50 years. A product of Salt Lake City’s public schools, Charlotte attended Parkview Elementary and South High School and spent her senior year as a foreign exchange student in the Philippines.
An advocate for education and the arts, Charlotte earned scholarships in piano and marching band at the University of Utah, where she double-majored in Piano Performance and Political Science. She has taught piano since the age of 15, sharing her passion for music with generations of students. Charlotte continues to teach privately and perform, finding fulfillment in these endeavors.
Charlotte’s dedication to public service was inspired by her parents, who were deeply committed to their community – in addition to their extensive volunteerism, her mother served on the SLC School Board for 16 years, and her father served in the state legislature for eight years. Charlotte has carried on this legacy of service through her involvement with various boards, including the Salt Lake County Center for the Arts, Mundi Project, Society for Professional Journalists, and Federation of Music Clubs.
Deeply invested in public education, Charlotte spent many years volunteering in her three sons’ schools and teaching piano in local schools as a non-district employee. She also co-chaired the Advisory Board for University Neighborhood Partners, a University of Utah initiative dedicated to creating pathways to higher education for Westside residents, and served on West High’s ELP/IB Steering Committee.
As a co-founder of The West View community newspaper, Charlotte worked to build community, amplify Westside voices, counter negative stereotypes, and foster civic engagement. She later helped transition the paper into a nonprofit news organization, West View Media, which she managed for 10 years before focusing on advocacy through the Westside Coalition, where she is currently serving her second term as Vice President of Community Engagement.
Charlotte and her husband, Chad, a captain in the SLC Fire Department, are proud parents of three adult sons. Together, they enjoy outdoor adventures with their two dogs, spending time with extended family, solving New York Times puzzles, watching movies, reading, and sharing their love of music.
