Board Meeting Report - November 15, 2022

The Salt Lake City Board of Education (the Board) held its November Study Session on Tuesday, November 15, 2022. The meeting was live-streamed and is available on the district YouTube channel

Student Distribution Report

The student distribution report shows where our students live in comparison to where they attend school. It lists how many students have transferred in or out of each school. Board members expressed interest in speaking with school administrators where the report shows a large number of students transferring in or out, with the goal to identify how we can attract more students to our schools.

Staffing Update

The Human Resource Services (HRS) department gave the Board an update on current staffing levels in the district. For this school year, the district has hired 236 certified educators, 436 hourly employees, and 155 new substitute teachers. The report showed our schools are fully staffed, except for some key special education positions. HRS leaders also reviewed efforts to increase diversity among our teachers and efforts to streamline services and increase efficiency in their department.
