Superintendent's Newsletter - Mar. 11, 2021
Dear Salt Lake City School District community,
Four electric school buses will soon be transporting Salt Lake City School District students. They will be the first in Utah, and more electric buses will be coming.
The district recently received a second grant from the Utah Department of Environmental Quality after receiving its first grant in November 2018. The two grants, totaling more than $1.5 million, will be used to purchase several electric school buses, allowing the district to retire some of its older diesel-powered buses.

I’m also excited to share that the Salt Lake Education Foundation has launched a new app. If you’re not familiar with their work, the Foundation functions as our school district’s nonprofit arm and provides incredible support to students and families, including emergency food (including running our Food for Families program), rent and utility assistance, vouchers for clothing or needed furniture, etc. The new app gives parents, students, faculty, and staff the ability to stay connected and informed about what’s happening at the Salt Lake Education Foundation and about resources such as food assistance, support with rent or utilities, scholarship information, etc. The app will also be a tool for school counselors and administrators to better connect families to these important resources.
